The Brussels-Capital Region has selected 12 projects to promote global and inclusive citizenship

With its annual call for projects, Brussels International wants to raise awareness among the young people of Brussels about a liveable and equitable planet by 2030.

As part of its development cooperation policy, Brussels International has launched a call for projects every year since 2017 to raise awareness about global and inclusive citizenship among young people in Brussels, between the ages of 12 and 25.

The Brussels-Capital Region (BCR) thus contributes to the implementation of the 2030 United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). This year’s call for projects focused on SDG 10: “Reduce inequalities within and among countries”.

All the projects that were submitted pursue two major objectives: on the one hand, to explain North-South inequalities to the young people of Brussels with a view to improving the living conditions of populations in developing countries and around the world; on the other hand, to promote actions in developing countries, which have already been implemented – or are in the process of being implemented – by Brussels-based organisations and highlight the diversity of Brussels solidarity.

12 selected projects

The call for projects by Brussels International is meeting with growing interest from civil society organisations. This year, approximately fifty projects were submitted and analysed by the Selection Committee, which is made of members of the administration and external experts.

The Committee selected twelve projects, representing a total budget of €200,000:
