Project Call South 2019

Are you a recognized Belgian civil society organization or a non-profit organization, and do you wish to launch a project in a developing country within the framework of the topic of climate change or the topic of sustainable and inclusive economic development?

Upon the initiative of State Secretary for Development Cooperation Bianca Debaets, Minister of the Environment Cécile Fremault, and State Secretary for External Trade Cécile Jodoigne, Brussels International, Brussels Environment and HUB Brussels – Invest & Export are launching a new Project Call.

  Context

The Brussels-Capital Region (BCR) would like to contribute to the battle against global warming and the eradication of global poverty through sustainable and inclusive economic development.

Goal This Project Call intends to support initiatives in two contexts:
  • concrete actions to mitigate the effects of or to adapt to climate change
OR
  • projects in the framework of sustainable and inclusive economic development in a developing country

These projects must take place in an urban or semi-urban context. For the topic of “sustainable and inclusive economic development”, projects must be developed in one of the four partner regions of the BCR (see regulations). For the topic of “climate change”, projects may be developed in one of the four partner regions, or in one of the least developed nations as listed by the OECD (see regulations).

  Who is eligible?

For the topic of “climate change” This topic is focused on civil society organizations recognized by the Directorate-General Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid (DGD) of the Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation.

For the topic of “sustainable and inclusive economic development” This part is open to both recognized civil society organizations as well as other Belgian non-profits (ASBL/VZW). When it comes to other non-profits, this topic is primarily focused on small to medium civil society organizations as well as other associations focused on economic development.
